Hyderabad: Prohibition and Excise department Director Sarfaraz Ahmad asked all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and District Prohibition and Excise Officers (DPEOs) to expedite the process of collecting proposed penalty from shop owners who failed to submit bank guarantees within the period of limitation.
A penalty of Rs.50,000 would be collected for the month of January from the owners while Rs.1 lakh for February and Rs.2 lakh after two months.
He said the liquor shops owners have to submit bank guarantees in form A5 each equal to one fourth of total retail shop excise tax for two years valid nearly 25 months within seven days of allotment of shops to obtain a licence.
But the owners made representations requesting to permit them one month to submit bank guarantees. Following a request from owners, the DCs and DPEOs have been permitted to accept bank guarantees up to December 31, by owners duly obtaining an undertaking.
