Hyderabad: Over 1, 000 cyclists, fitness enthusiasts, doctors, oncologists, students, corporate teams and cancer survivors participated in the ‘Cyclothon-Cancer Awareness Ride-2026’ organised by Star Hospitals at Nanakramguda on Sunday
Organised ahead of the World Cancer Day, which falls on February 4, the 10K cyclothon ride, also featured participants from FIT India and Hyderabad Cycling Revolution, aimed at spreading awareness about early cancer detection and personalised care.
The event was aimed at breaking the silence around cancer and promoting awareness about screening, lifestyle choices, and life after treatment, a press release said.
Dr. Sainath Bhethanabhotla, Head, Medical Oncology, Star Hospitals said “Hyderabad unfortunately carries the tag of the breast cancer capital due to high incidence rates, and we are also seeing a rise in other cancers. People should come forward for screening as symptoms often occur late in the course of disease. Early detection remains the most effective tool to save lives,” he said.
Dr. Vipin Goel, Head, Surgical Oncology, Star Hospitals, Dr. Gopichand Mannam, MD, Star Hospitals Group Hyderabad and others were present.
