Over 250 unsafe classrooms identified in Adilabad and Nirmal
More than 250 classrooms in government schools across Adilabad and Nirmal districts have been identified as unsafe ahead of the new academic year. Education officials say repair works are underway to ensure student safety before schools reopen on June 15.

Adilabad/Nirmal: Classrooms in more than 130 government schools in Adilabad district are in a dilapidated condition, according to inspections carried out by officials from the Education Department, raising concerns among parents about the safety of their children.
According to officials, the district has 739 schools catering to 57,896 students. The district has 500 primary schools, 119 upper-primary schools and 120 high schools. With the reopening of schools around the corner, questions are being raised about the safety of students in certain old school buildings in the district.
Officials revealed that classrooms in 135 schools have been identified as being at risk of collapse. Utnoor mandal topped the list with 18 classrooms found to be in a dangerous condition, followed by Indervelli mandal, which stood second with 15 classrooms that could cave in at any time, officials disclosed.
Similarly, Echoda, Thalamadugu and Bhoraj mandals accounted for 10 classrooms each, while Neradigonda, Gudihathnoor and Jainath mandals had nine classrooms each. Eight classrooms in Adilabad Urban mandal, six each in Boath, Bela and Narnoor mandals, four each in Bhoraj and Sathnala mandals, and three each in Thamsi and Bazarhathnoor mandals were identified as unsafe.
“The classrooms that are in a dilapidated condition have been identified. Repairs are underway. Instructions have been given to the executing agencies to complete the work before the reopening of schools slated for June 15. Efforts are on to ensure the safety of students and avoid inconvenience to them,” District Educational Officer D Madhavi told Telangana Today.
Meanwhile, classrooms in 121 of the 837 schools in Nirmal district were reported to be in a dangerous condition, highlighting the urgent need for repairs and safety measures. Officials said steps were being taken to ensure the safety of students while attending classes. They stated that the classrooms were being repaired.
