Over 46 lakh cash, liquor seized ahead of Nagarjunasagar bypoll

Nalgonda: The district police seized Rs.46.79 lakh in cash and liquor bottles worth over Rs.35 lakh during checks conducted in connection with the ensuing byelection to Nagarjunasagar Assembly constituency.

Nalgonda District Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) AV Ranganath said cases were booked for violating rules relating to convoy during the campaign and 68 cases were booked for ignoring Covid-19 safety norms.

The police also booked cases against contesting candidates for campaigning without wearing face masks.
