Over 80 bird species sighted in Kawal Bird Walk’s third edition in Mancherial

Mancherial: Lensmen and participants in a bird walk event managed to capture over 80 different species of beautiful birds during the third edition of the walk organized by the Forest department in the Kawal Tiger Reserve around Jannaram mandal centre on Saturday and Sunday.
Jannaram in-charge Forest Range Officer Sushmita Rao said around 80 endemic and migrant bird species were spotted during the two-day long programme, which saw participation of 20 nature lovers, birdwatchers and wildlife photographers from different parts of State. She stated that efforts were being made to register the species in the official records.
Participants were happy to have sighted the bird species in the reserve. Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements made by the department, they said the reserve could be an idyllic destination for birdwatching and spending time in the lap of nature. They were all praise for the officials for taking a slew of measures to protect the flora and fauna.
Indaram Nageshwar Rao, an avid nature lover from Warangal city, said the event provided an opportunity to explore the winged wonders in the reserve. He observed that the landscape was endowed with rich avifaunal wealth and that the reserve was a paradise for birdwatchers and wildlife photographers.
Some of the bird species spotted included Spot-billed Duck, Painted Stork, Red-naped Ibis, Pond heron, Indian Cormorant, White-breasted Waterhen, Red-breasted Flycatcher, Tickell’s Blue Flycatcher, Indian Roller, Coppersmith Barbet, Golden Oriole, Cinereous Tit, Rufous Indian Treepie, White-eyed buzzard, Grey-breasted Prinia, Hume’s Leaf Warbler, Greenish Warbler, Alexandrine Parakeet.
