Following the unexpected rains, the paddy kept by farmers at government-run procurement centres was damaged. The farmers said they would register huge losses if the government did not buy the grains and wanted the damaged paddy to be procured without citing high moisture percent and without reducing the Minimum Support Price.
A farmer wept when his paddy was swept away by the rainwater at a procurement centre in Jannaram mandal. A video clip of the farmer crying went viral on social media platforms. He said he would have earned profits if the grains were purchased by the government.
