Mancherial: A paddy procurement centre at Kishtapur village in Jaipur mandal was shut after allegations surfaced that paddy worth Rs 3 crore had been misappropriated.
Labour Minister Dr Vivek instructed Civil Supplies officials to immediately close the centre when a farmer brought the incident to his notice in Chennur on Wednesday. Officials subsequently issued orders shutting down the centre and launched an inquiry into the alleged irregularities by its operators.
The minister reportedly expressed displeasure with the officials for allocating the centre to the organisers. He is learnt to have advised them to ensure operators do not resort to such malpractice, cautioning that these acts harm the government’s image.
Earlier, Lambu Shivaprasad Reddy, a farmer from the village, lodged a complaint with officials seeking action against the centre’s operators and submitted evidence supporting his allegations. He had already reported the misappropriation to senior officials.
