On December 3, to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the students of Pallavi Aware International School, Saroornagar conducted an online assembly to spread awareness of the rights and welfare of people with disabilities. The students spoke about the achievements and contributions of famous people with disabilities in various sectors. Since 1998, the day is observed every year with a particular theme. For the celebrations this year, the theme of the occasion is – Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible, and the sustainable post-Covid world, the speakers observed.
A video on ‘Etiquette to Communicate with Differently-abled’ was played to enable the audience to understand the dos and don’ts when communicating with differently-abled persons.
A poem was recited by students emphasizing the need for inclusion, positive attitude of society and the removal of social barriers. Through this programme, the students tried to spread the valuable message that respecting differences and celebrating the abilities of individuals is what makes this world a better and happy place, the school said in a statement.
