Nirmal: Eight persons including two councillors belonging to two sections were booked under Preventive Detention Act and were jailed for allegedly causing communal clashes in Bhainsa town.

In-charge Superintendent of Police Ch Praveen Kumar said that the accused were Abdul Khadeeer, Councillor of 21st ward, Sajid Khan, Abdul Jubair, Shaik Salman, Thota Vijay, 8th ward councillor, Naimathabad Lingoji, Taloji Rakesh and Tati Sankranthi.

They were booked following investigations into the communal tensions and interrogations of 71 accused. The investigations were carried out by Bhanisa ASP Khare Kiran. Praveen Kumar stated that measures were being taken for restoring normalcy in the communally sensitive town and to provide a permanent solution to the menace.

He said that the police mechanism was striving hard to protect the law and order of the town. He requested the locals not to trust rumors and warned that PD Act would be invoked against troublemakers in the future.
