Peddapalli: Thirty-two students of the Balasadan here fell ill due to suspected food poisoning on Wednesday night. Alert staff shifted them to the Peddapalli Government Hospital, where they were provided treatment.
It remains unclear whether the students developed illness due to food poisoning or consumption of contaminated water. At around 10 pm, the students began vomiting after having dinner, prompting the staff to move them to the hospital. Except for four students, the condition of the remaining 28 was stated to be stable.
The four students who complained of health issues were admitted for treatment. While the students reportedly fell ill due to suspected food poisoning, Balasadan organisers maintained that they were taken to hospital for a routine health check-up.
Balasadan Production Officer Nirmala said that only two students had developed vomiting, but all were shifted to hospital as a precautionary measure. Stating that the condition of all the students was stable, she reiterated that only four students with health issues were admitted for treatment.
