Sangareddy: A pharmaceutical company has allegedly encroached on a park in Pashamylaram Industrial Area and laid a road through it despite objections from the Telangana Industrial and Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC).
Sources said Gravity Pharmaceuticals Limited had encroached on KCR Park in Pashamylaram Industrial Area in Sangareddy district and laid a road to connect its premises to another access point.
According to the sources, TGIIC officials who learned of the encroachment stopped the company’s management from laying the road through the park and erected a fence to prevent further encroachment. However, the company’s management allegedly removed the fencing and completed the road work.
The TGIIC had allotted 10 acres of land for a park in the area. In 2015, former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao planted a sapling there to mark the launch of Telangana Ku Haritha Haram, an afforestation drive.
However, Gravity Pharmaceuticals allegedly encroached on nearly half an acre of the park and laid the road. The encroached land is estimated to be worth Rs 7 crore to Rs 8 crore.
TGIIC sources told Telangana Today that officials had tried to stop the company multiple times, but the management proceeded with the work despite their objections. The sources added that the matter had been brought to the attention of senior officials.
Meanwhile, the company’s management was allegedly attempting to regularise the road by lobbying the TGIIC for permission, according to sources.
Industrialists who said they wanted to protect the park, speaking on condition of anonymity, urged the government to initiate criminal proceedings against those responsible for the alleged encroachment.
They warned that allowing the company to proceed without action could encourage other industries in Pashamylaram to encroach on parkland in the future.
