The modernisation works will be carried out in four District Hospitals, eight Areas Hospitals and three CHCs in 14 districts.

Apart from Hyderabad, other districts where the repair works of Area and District Hospitals are to be taken up include Nalgonda, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Sangareddy, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Karimnagar, Mancherial, Nagarkurnool, Yadadri Bhongir, Medak, and Siddipet.

Health Minister, T Harish Rao, while reviewing the modernisation works that are underway at government healthcare facilities, on Monday said that in the coming weeks, another 20 blood storage centres will be established in Telangana.

“We have decided to establish 20 blood storage facilities in Telangana. Each blood bank will cost Rs 12 lakh. These storage facilities will be catering to the needs of patients who receive treatment in Area, District Hospitals and CHCs in 12 districts. Telangana already has 57 blood banks and 51 blood storage centres and another 20 storage facilities will further strengthen the availability of blood for emergency patients,” Harish Rao said.
