‘Poems Aloud’ brings out literary best of students
A wide variety of verses by famous poets and laureates were recited by the pupils with great aplomb

Gitanjali Devashray organised Poems Aloud, an inter-house English recitation competition recently where the bright, young minds of grades IV, V and VI regaled the audience with their entertaining poetry.
A lot of importance is given to the holistic growth of the pupils. With the support and guidance of the school management, various activities which nurture the 21st-century skills in the student body are conducted regularly. Recitation is an excellent pathway into developing communication skills, which will have an essential part to play in their future, the school said in a statement.
A wide variety of verses by famous poets and laureates were recited by the pupils with great aplomb. There were poems by Kenn Nesbitt, Shel Silverstein, Jack Prelutsky, David Crawley.
A few poems recited in the competition were penned by the eminent director of Gitanjali Group of Schools, Gita Karan and the associate director Madhvi Chandra. The amusing poems of the school’s in-house poetesses were a treat to one and all.
Poems Aloud being the first competition of its kind, this academic year, was set to start things off on a cheerful and enthusiastic note. The enthusiastic participation of the students added elements of fun and energy that lasted throughout the programme.
