Hyderabad: In an effort to equip police officers with the skills required to navigate the rapidly evolving digital landscape, the Police Training Centre (PTC), Medchal hosted a refresher course on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the digital era, aimed at enhancing the investigative capabilities of officers through the effective use of technology and social media.

The session was led by Nikeelu Gunda, an acclaimed expert in Artificial Intelligence and digital strategy, and Founder of Digital Connect. As the guest trainer, he delivered a hands-on and insightful session on how police officers can leverage AI tools to enhance investigations, public communication, and cybercrime response.

Topics covered during the training included phishing and scam detection, deepfake identification, social media analysis, mobile tracking, digital evidence collection, and voice recognition. A special segment was also dedicated to the responsible use of social media by police officers, highlighting ways to build public trust, share verified information, and counter misinformation effectively.

Nikeelu demonstrated live use-cases using tools like, and PimEyes, showing how technology can be used to track threats, analyse evidence, and prevent fraud in real time. “Police duty in today’s era is not just about manpower, but also mind + machine power,” he said. “Every officer can become digitally empowered with the right tools and awareness.”

The training programme was coordinated under the leadership of PTC Principal P Madhukar Swamy, whose vision for creating tech-savvy policing environments continues to shape training methodologies at the centre. Speaking on the occasion, he said,

“Today’s police force must be as smart as the criminals they face. Our constables and officers must be equipped not only with weapons and discipline but also with awareness and digital intelligence. Training like this prepares them for real-world challenges.”

The programme was successfully supported by Laxman, DSP, along with Inspectors Kiran, Ravi, and N Chandrasekhar, who were instrumental in ensuring the smooth organisation of the session.

Attending officers expressed deep interest in the training, stating that it gave them a fresh perspective on handling digital evidence and responding to cybercrimes more effectively. The session concluded with a renewed commitment to tech-enabled policing, marking a crucial step forward in building a future-ready law enforcement system.
