PRRD estimates Rs 374 crore for monsoon-damaged roads and culverts in Telangana
Telangana’s PRRD Department estimates Rs 374 crore to repair monsoon-damaged roads and culverts across 1,291 locations. Temporary repairs cost Rs 22.71 crore, permanent works Rs 352 crore. Minister D. Anasuya directed urgent restoration and relocation of residents in unsafe structures.

Hyderabad: The Panchayat Raj and Rural Development (PRRD) department has estimated that it would require at least Rs.374 crore to take up repairs immediately to the damaged roads and culverts damaged in the monsoon fury that the state witnessed. In a teleconference held with the officials on Friday, the PRRD Minister D Anasuya was told that as may as 1291 instances of roads, culverts and other structures being damaged were noticed across the State.
While, temporary repairs would cost Rs.22.71 crore, permanent repairs would cost Rs. 352 crore. In total, as per the preliminary estimates, the department identified damages worth of Rs.374.71 crore.
In all, road network connecting 22 villages was completely damaged. Of these, officials informed that road connectivity for 14 villages was restored by taking up temporary works and efforts were on to restore road connectivity for other villages.
“Road connectivity to villages should be established on war footing basis. Residents living in the dilapidated houses and occupants working in old structures should be immediately shifted to safe places,” D Anasuya instructed the officials.
