Hyderabad: BRS leader and former MLA Putta Madhu leveled serious allegations of corruption against IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, claiming that his secretariat office has turned into a “hub for illegal deals” under the guise of providing job opportunities to youth.
Addressing a news conference at Telangana Bhavan, Madhu demanded an immediate high-level inquiry into the minister’s office, drawing parallels to recent probes against other political leaders. Madhu highlighted how the minister’s office—often praised for staying open until midnight to assist job seekers—allegedly operates late into the night to facilitate bribe collections.
“While people shower praise on the office for its extended hours, the reality is that these late-night sessions are reserved for illicit transactions,” Madhu stated, urging the government to investigate and take strict action.
Referring to a complaint lodged by one Kalyan Raj on September 10, Madhu described it as the one pertaining to “illegal collections” in the minister’s office. He claimed that the complaint was misleadingly labeled as a cybercrime issue, possibly to downplay it as an old matter.
“Minister Sridhar Babu may appear straightforward and innocent on the surface, but he deals shrewdly behind the scenes,” Madhu remarked. He said the minister’s office has issued car passes in its name to enable unauthorized access, further enabling the alleged graft.
He questioned the government’s selective approach to accountability. Pointing out swift inquiries against Women and Child Welfare Minister Konda Surekha and Tribal Welfare Minister Seethakka’s offices in similar circumstances while ignoring similar issues in Sridhar Babu’s domain. “If the government can probe SC, BC, and ST-related matters, why spare Sridhar Babu? Why no inquiry here?” Madhu asked, accusing the administration of bias.
Madhu extended the accusations to the minister’s brother, Sheenu Babu, whom he alleged is deeply involved in irregularities extending beyond their home constituency to all districts across the state.
