Puvvada Ajay Kumar pays tributes to PV Narasimha Rao at Khammam

Khammam: Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister late PV Narasimha Rao on the occasion of his birth centenary celebrations here on Monday.
The minister along with the SUDA Chairman B Vijay Kumar, MLC B Lakshminarayana and others garlanded PV’s statue at Lakaram Circle in the city marking the valedictory of the centenary celebrations and extended wishes to people of Telangana.
Ajay Kumar informed that following the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao PV’s first bronze statue in Khammam district was installed at Lakaram Circle last year commemorating the year long birth centenary celebrations.
“Narasimha Rao was not only a son of the soil of Telangana, but one of the great leaders the country had seen. He brought about land reforms when he was the Chief Minister of erstwhile AP and economic reforms when he became the Prime Minister,” the Minister said.
The revolutionary reforms in the Indian economy laid a strong foundation for the economical development of the country when the Indian economy was on the downside. The country was now enjoying the fruits of his reforms, the minister explained.
Making great contributions to the field of education, PV took the initiative of establishing modern Gurukuls and Navodaya Vidyalayas which, Ajay Kumar said, have made quality education accessible to students from all sections of the society.
The Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao decided to celebrate PV birth centenary all year long in his honour and to offer a tribute to the great statesman, writer and a polyglot, Ajay Kumar pointed out.
Mayor P Neeraja, DCCB Chairman Kurakula Nagbhushanam, District Collector RV Karnan, Commissioner of Police Vishnu S. Warrior, leaders Gundala Krishna, and others were present on the occasion.
