Khammam: The Madiga JAC State campaign secretary Gaddala Nageshwar Rao has urged Congress Telangana affairs in-charge Manickam Tagore to extend support for SC categorisation.
He met the Congress leader at his residence in New Delhi on Tuesday and informed him that the community had been fighting for its genuine demand of 12 per cent reservation for the past 27 years.
Nageshwar Rao complained that the BJP government at the Centre which promised to carry out the categorisation of the Scheduled Castes within 100 days of coming to power failed to deliver the promise, said a release here on Tuesday.
The Madiga community’s demand was also neglected during the past regime of Congress. Now it is time for Congress to bring justice to the community by putting pressure on the Centre. The party MPs should discuss the issue in Parliament, he appealed.
Tagore, responding to the JAC leaders’ appeal, said the Congress MPs would stand by the community and support their cause and put pressure on the Centre. The Congress leader also said he personally would support 12 per cent reservation for Madigas.
Nageshwar Rao thanked Tagore for extending support for the cause, and said the JAC would continue its fight for 12 per cent reservation under the leadership of the JAC founder president Pidamarti Ravi and State convener Kodari Dheeran.
