Hyderabad: Calling for an immediate action plan to implement the long-awaited SC categorisation in the State, BRS leaders Tatikonda Rajaiah and RS Praveen Kumar demanded that the announcement of results of the tests held for recruitment for government jobs should be stopped until the categorisation process was completed, fulfilling what the Chief Minister had assured on the issue.

Addressing a news conference at Telangana Bhavan along with a host of other leaders including Guvvala Balaraju and Methuku Anand, they voiced their concerns on the delay. Tatikonda Rajaiah accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of attempting to deceive the SC community. After 30 years, the Supreme Court has delivered a verdict on SC categorisation. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that Telangana would be the first State in the country to implement SC categorisation.

However, the BRS leaders alleged that Revanth Reddy was out to deceive the SC community by filling jobs in the groups ahead of the categorisation process with ulterior motives. Shamim Akhtar’s one-member commission suggested categorising SCs into A, B, and C groups. However, Madiga and Madiga sub-caste leaders have been raising objections on the plea that the SC categorisation report was flawed.

They pointed out that economically advanced castes were placed in Group A, while the Madiga community, with a population of 3.33 million, was given only 11% reservations. In contrast, the Mala community, with a population of 1.5 million, received 5% reservations. The leaders also highlighted that Budaga Jangalu, a sub-caste of Madigas, was separated from the Madiga community.

Additionally, the backward Netakani caste was included in Group C, and along with the Netakani caste, the Mala community received 5% reservations. The BRS leaders demanded that government job recruitment should only take place after SC categorisation is implemented.

They criticised CM Revanth Reddy for his double standards, claiming that he outwardly supports the Madiga community while secretly promoting the Mala community. They urged Revanth Reddy to stop his deceptive tactics and immediately implement SC categorisation.

The leaders pointed out that, 441 farmers have committed suicide in the State and attributed these deaths to the failures of Revanth Reddy. They also criticised Reddy for neglecting women’s issues, stating that he has done nothing for them.
