Hyderabad: QurHealth, a healthcare data intelligence and management company, is focusing on solving real-world challenges across the healthcare spectrum, creating provider-centric patient engagement solutions. The company is looking to raise $30 million (over Rs 220 crore) to meet its expansion needs, both from the US as well as Indian investors.

The platform, launched in December 2020, also educates patients about the diseases, and helps them to keep a track of their health with real-time data management. It has saved over 600 lives in the peak Covid months during the second wave. QurHealth also launched QurOne, a patient care concierge programme.

QurHealth has signed multi-year contracts with over 175 hospitals and over 2,000 doctors serving over 3,00,000 patients in its first 12 months of business growth. It operates in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mysuru, Visakhapatnam, Delhi-NCR, Chennai, and Coimbatore. The company has product teams in India and the US.

Ravi Kunduru, founder and CEO, QurHealth, told Telangana Today in an exclusive interview, “We are focusing on conversational analytics, based on real-time data and evidence. Our architecture allows a patient to access all providers including therapists, pharmacists, lab specialists, secondary care providers and others securely. In the next 1-2 years, we want to be known as a patient care concierge provider and cater to at least 30 per cent of the rural population both in India and the US.”

Over the next five years, the company aims to serve 100 million patients, create one million providers and healthcare professionals, and one lakh QurPlans. QurHealth also plans to sign up 10,000 hospitals, partner with 1,000 payers and develop 100 patents and an IP portfolio.

He further added, “Majority of patients using the platform today are in urban and tier-2 cities. We are penetrating tier-3 cities soon. Among Indian cities, Hyderabad is our second major market. We have a team of 20 people in the city and besides other major categories, elderly care is a key segment.”

AI assistant

QurHealth offers IT-healthcare solutions to different stakeholders including care providers, payers, patients, and researchers. In 2020, a watershed year, the company introduced Sheela, India’s first personalised multilingual conversational AI health assistant to help people track their activities using their smartphones and Alexa. Sheela can also help a patient ask medically certified questions (curated by medical experts) to a doctor related to 30 disease conditions/specialties.

The company has created a multi-lingual platform that will allow the user to talk in the native language, be it the patient or the caregiver. In India, one can converse in 10 languages including Telugu in addition to English, and outside India, one can converse in French or Spanish.

Transformational model

“We want to reverse the existing healthcare model where patients reach out to a healthcare provider. QurHealth wants to achieve disruption where a doctor, hospital or a care coordinator will reach out to the patient or the family to alert/ predict a co-morbidity condition,” he added.

The platform will allow each patient to have a personal care provider who offers real-time medical support and remotely monitors the health status, proactively saving lives. The company’s solutions are backed by artificial intelligence, data engineering, and predictive analytics, to deliver personalised care.

He said, “Among the 30 specialties, conditions such as diabetes, women’s health, oncology, dental care, and mental health are the top five categories patients have utilised the platform so far.”

QurHealth also lays emphasis on making the platform elderly-friendly making it easy to use with the help of its AI assistant, which can be connected to a TV, without needing to use a smartphone. The bedside monitoring/interaction system helps easy interaction, which is also integrated to a pill reminder for medication adherence, enabled by a partner.

The system will also work in offline mode so that there is no electricity dependency. This feature will be available from September 2022, Kunduru informed.
