Hyderabad: The Rachakonda SOT busted an oil theft gang and arrested nine persons at Adibatla here on Saturday. Police seized 805 litres of diesel and petrol, cash of Rs 40,000, three fuel tankers and other material from them.
The arrested persons are B Sai Raghu Goud, Ch Ravinder Reddy, V Karunakar, V Yadagiri, Yella Reddy, M Kranthi Goud, K Shashank Reddy, G Lingam Goud and G Rambabu.
According to the police, Raghu who earlier worked with one Ramesh and indulged in oil theft from tankers in Mallapur got acquainted with various drivers and helpers engaged in transporting fuel from oil company storage points at Cherlapally.
“He chose a convenient place along the service road located adjacent to the ORR in Adibatla. After the oil tanker drivers load the tankers at the storage points, they reach the designated place and commit theft of fuel before reaching to their destination,” police said. Raghu sold the stolen diesel for Rs 70 per litre.
