Pallavi Aware International School organised a campaign on May 4 to mark International Firefighters’ Day which is observed on May 4 to honour the firefighters who put their lives at risk to protect others’ lives and property. It is a day to express to the firefighters the gratitude we feel towards them for being such an integral part of our communities.
The campaign was initiated by the students explaining the significance of International Firefighters’ Day. They went on to speak about the events that led to the instituting of the International Firefighters’ Day.
A video was broadcasted demonstrating a mock fire drill carried out by firefighters. The video presented a demonstration of how firefighters respond to a fire, what challenges they experience during their work and how they are ever-prepared to move out to fight a fire at the shortest of notices.
The students informed the audience about how International Firefighters’ Day is celebrated across various countries. The significance of the red and blue ribbon, known as the International Firefighters’ Day ribbon or simply as the IFFD ribbon worn on this day, was mentioned and the students also explained the significance the colours red and blue have to firefighters.
The campaign ended with a quiz competition on the theme.
