Following the complicated redo cardiac surgery, the patient has recovered well
Hyderabad: Doctors led by senior cardio-thoracic surgeon, Dr Syed Nasheed Ali of Olive Hospitals have successfully conducted a redo cardiac surgery on a 65-year-old patient, who had underwent a heart valve replacement surgery 12 years ago.
While the replaced heart valve was functioning normally, two more heart valves of the patient were badly damaged. As a result, the patient was becoming breathless while walking and also started to develop swelling of the feet.
The surgeons at Olive Hospitals said the only way to repair the damaged heart valves was to take-up an open heart surgery. According to the doctors, many hospitals in Hyderabad were reluctant to take-up a redo cardiac surgery because of the high risks involved.
The patient was brought to Olive Hospital by his nephew, who previously had worked as anaesthesia technician in the same hospital and was aware that CT surgeon Dr Syed Nasheed Ali had performed a similar redo cardiac surgery on a patient from Sudan. Following the complicated redo cardiac surgery, the patient has recovered well, doctors added.
