Hyderabad: Amid criticism over delays in the construction of TIMS hospitals, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the previous government had laid the foundation stones for TIMS hospitals at Sanathnagar, Alwal and LB Nagar but failed to allocate funds or take up construction.

In Warangal, an existing structure was demolished with an assurance that a new hospital would be built. That initiative was also forgotten, he said after formally inaugurating the TIMS hospital at Sanathnagar on Monday.

Revanth Reddy said the Congress government had accorded top priority to the hospitals after coming to power. Funds were allocated and efforts were being made to complete their construction at the earliest, he said.

“Before December 9, 2027, the construction of the Osmania, Alwal, LB Nagar and Warangal hospitals will be completed. One hospital will be completed every six months,” Revanth Reddy announced.

He said the hospitals would be developed in a manner that would make them capable of competing with corporate hospitals. One exclusive director would be appointed for each hospital, he added.

The Chief Minister also criticised Sanathnagar MLA T Srinivas Yadav and BRS working president KT Rama Rao for trying to claim credit for the construction of the hospitals.

“As long as they continue to speak lies, I will speak the truth,” Revanth Reddy said.

The Chief Minister said a majority of funds under Aarogyasri and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) were being released to private hospitals.

He asked Health Minister D Rajanarasimha to encourage doctors in government hospitals to work additional hours. Specialist doctors performing surgeries should be offered incentives through Aarogyasri or CMRF, he said.

Such incentives would motivate doctors to work additional hours in government hospitals, Revanth Reddy said. “They can spend quality time with poor patients,” he added.

If the government did not offer incentives, doctors could conduct private practice or work in private hospitals after their duty hours, he said.
