Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday once again claimed that the State government had no land available for distribution to the poor.
“It is an impossible task to ensure the development of the poor through land distribution. There is no land even for constructing government offices or providing graveyards,” he claimed at the inauguration of the Advanced Technology Centre (ATC) here on Saturday.
The Chief Minister stressed that education was the only tool to change the destiny of youth from poor sections.
Pointing to Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu as strong and influential, Revanth urged him to press Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka to sanction a monthly stipend of Rs.2,000 for youth joining ATCs from the next academic year. He also asked Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar to provide apprenticeship opportunities for ATC students in TGRTC.
The State government has tied up with Tata Technologies to upgrade ITIs into ATCs. While Tata is spending Rs.2,100 crore under the initiative, the government’s share is Rs.300 crore. Already, 65 ATCs are being developed and another 51 have been approved, which will be ready by the next academic year, he said.
The Chief Minister added that there were abundant opportunities for skilled youth abroad. “Not just the United States, there is heavy demand for trained youth in Japan, Germany and Korea,” he said. The government would set up a special wing to train youth in Japanese, help them obtain passports and facilitate visas, he promised.
