Revanth Reddy sets June 15 deadline for paddy procurement, stresses cordial ties with Centre
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday set a June 15 deadline for the Centre to procure paddy from the State while criticising delays in Metro Rail expansion and other projects.
Hyderabad: After issuing ultimatums to the Central government over paddy procurement, Metro Rail expansion and other pending projects, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday stressed the need to maintain cordial relations with the Centre and neighbouring States.
The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for an integrated fruit market and a Sub-Registrar’s Office at Koheda. Addressing a public meeting, he criticised the Central government for not approving the Metro Rail expansion project. He also faulted the Centre for refusing to procure paddy produced in Telangana.
Revanth Reddy set a June 15 deadline for the Centre to procure paddy from the State. He also declared that he would fight Prime Minister Narendra Modi until the pending projects were approved.
“Let us see how they deny permissions for Metro expansion and refuse to allocate funds for Adilabad and Warangal airports,” Revanth Reddy said.
He also launched a sharp attack on Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay, accusing them of making reckless statements without helping the State secure approvals for pending projects.
“We will not be intimidated by their threats just because they are in power at the Centre,” he said.
However, in the same speech, Revanth Reddy stressed the importance of maintaining cordial relations with the Central government. “We are striving to secure the necessary funds by maintaining cordial relations with the Central government,” he said. The Chief Minister said he was committed to securing approvals for the Metro Rail expansion project, national project status for the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and Central funding for airports at Adilabad and Nizamabad.
He also accused the BRS of creating obstacles to the development of Bharat Future City, the Regional Ring Road, new airports and the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme. The BRS would lose its status as the principal opposition party if it continued to oppose development projects, he said.
The Chief Minister said agricultural activity had declined due to the expansion of the real estate sector.
“We are currently unable to fully meet the needs of the city’s residents. Even coriander is being imported from neighbouring States,” he said.
