Hyderabad: Launching a scathing attack on the Congress administration for its follies that left the people tormented across the State, BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday highlighted the numerous blunders that exposed Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s inability to govern effectively.
Accompanied by BRS MLAs from the GHMC limits and party leaders, he visited the Pedda Cheruvu sewage treatment plant (STP) at Nacharam in Uppal assembly constituency. Speaking on the occasion, he pointed out that for the first time the State witnessed what was undesired – policemen pitted against police, Congressmen beating Congressmen and women fighting women in free travel buses.
“This is enough to talk about Revanth’s rule,” Rama Rao remarked, emphasizing the chaos and mismanagement under the current administration. Rama Rao accused Revanth Reddy of neglecting the six guarantees promised to the people and instead focusing on the Musi River beautification project, which he claimed was a cover for corruption. He argued that the project could be completed with just Rs 1,100 crore by bringing Godavari water to Musi, but the government was inflating the cost to Rs 1.5 lakh crore for vested interests.
He also highlighted the Congress government’s failure to fulfill its promises within 100 days and accused them of using the Musi project as a pretext for distracting public attention from the failure of the government. Rama Rao emphasized that while the BRS was not against the Musi project, it would not tolerate corruption under its guise.
Rama Rao further criticized the Congress government for demolishing registered and tax-paying homes in Hyderabad to build shopping malls, accusing Revanth Reddy of conspiring against the poor. He assured the people of Hyderabad that the BRS would stand by them and protect their homes from bulldozers.
Reaffirming his commitment to the poor, he pledged support to the people being displaced by the Musi project. He assured that the BRS would continue to support the people of Hyderabad and stand by them until all promises were met. He accused Revanth Reddy of conspiring to demolish the homes of the poor to build shopping malls, driven by a vendetta against the people of Hyderabad who did not vote for Congress. He promised that if bulldozers come to demolish homes, he and other party leaders would stand in front of them to protect the residents.
Reflecting on the achievements of the BRS government over the past decade, Rama Rao highlighted the continuous supply of electricity, improved drinking water facilities, and the overall development of Hyderabad. He mentioned that the BRS government had undertaken numerous development projects, transforming the city’s landscape.
Rama Rao also emphasized the efforts made by the BRS government to improve sewage treatment in Hyderabad. He pointed out that the construction of STPs with an investment of Rs 3,866 crore was initiated to prevent sewage from entering the Musi River. He criticised the Congress government for claiming credit for these projects, noting that the Chief Minister recently inaugurated a plant in Uppal that was part of the BRS government’s initiatives.
