Hyderabad: Richmond Villas Ganesh laddu auctioned for record Rs 2.32 crore
The Ganesh laddu prasadam at Richmond Villas, Bandlaguda, was auctioned for a record Rs 2.32 crore, surpassing last year’s Rs 1.87 crore bid. Proceeds will go to RV Diya Charitable Trust, which funds student education and welfare activities for the underprivileged.

Hyderabad: The auctioning of a Ganesh laddu prasadam in Hyderabad has set a new precedent, with bids reaching all time high this year.
Breaking last year’s record, the Ganesh laddu at Richmond Villas in Bandlaguda was auctioned for a staggering Rs.2.32 crore. Last year, the villas made it to headlines for its Rs.1.87 crore auction bid.
The auction, which began around 8 pm on Friday, continued till 11 pm. Before reaching Rs.2.32 crore, around villa owners placed the bids.
Around 80 to 100 villa owners have come together and formed four groups to bid for the 10-kg laddu. Each group contributed their highest bid in the auction. Usually, individuals or a company takes part in the laddu auction.
“This time, the laddu was auctioned for Rs.2.32 crore. All the amount generated will be used for charity,” said R Shailesh Reddy, one of the villa owners in Richmond Villas.
The proceeds from the auctioning are transferred to the RV Diya Charitable Trust, which was created by the like-minded villa owners here. The trust has been extending financial assistance to students from economically weaker sections like paying their tuition fee. In addition, it also provides groceries to people from lower strata of the society.
