Sangareddy: The State government has granted Rs 16 crore for taking up renovation works of the Singur Multipurpose Project, built across River Manjeera at Singur village in Pulkal mandal.
After engineering authorities had sought the fund following a thorough study of the project, Andole MLA Kranthi Kiran took up the issue with Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. The MLA thanked the Chief Minister and Finance Minister T Harish Rao for granting the funds.
With funds being granted, the irrigation authorities had taken up the survey at the project on Saturday. The project, which was built in 1989, has an ayacut of 40,000 acres in Sangareddy district. It also provides drinking water to Sangareddy and parts of Hyderabad.
The project, which has a storage capacity of 29.91 tmcft, currently has 18.64 tmc. It is currently receiving about 2,000 cusecs from the upstream.
