Hyderabad: A case involving the alleged cheating of retired High Court judge Justice D.S.R. Varma to the tune of Rs 2.5 crore in the name of electoral bonds has been transferred to the Hyderabad Central Crime Station (CCS).
The case was initially registered at Film Nagar Police Station in 2024, and was later re-registered at CCS following directions from higher authorities.
Justice Varma, a former judge of the Andhra Pradesh and Allahabad High Courts, resides at OU Colony in Shaikpet.
Police said the suspects – Narendran and Sharath Reddy of Aatmeeya Homes, allegedly approached him in 2021 claiming the money was required to arrange electoral bonds for a national political party.
In return, they reportedly promised to help Justice Varma’s grandchildren secure jobs in the United States. Trusting the claim, Rs 2.5 crore was transferred from the bank accounts of his wife and daughter.
The CCS officials have taken up further investigation.
