Hyderabad: A TGSRTC bus conductor allegedly issued a ‘Mahalakshmi Ticket’, which is an exclusive free bus travel scheme for women, to a male passenger, raising questions about the misuse of the initiative.

The incident occurred recently on a TSRTC bus (registration number TS02Z0267) traveling from ECIL towards Afzalgunj. A young male passenger, when asked for a ticket by the conductor, was issued a ‘Mahalakshmi’ free ticket instead. The conductor reportedly charged the passenger Rs 30 for the same.

When the passenger noticed the wrong ticket and questioned the conductor, the latter claimed that the ticket machine was malfunctioning.

Complaints have been lodged with the RTC authorities and an internal investigation into the conductor’s actions is ongoing.

The video clip of the incident has gone viral.
