Nalgonda: Appealing to the people to vote for development in the by-elections to Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly constituency, Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Friday said that the Assembly constituency would witness an all-round development, if TRS candidate Nomula Bhagat was voted to win as MLA.
During his election campaign at Thummadam of Nidmanoor mandal in Nagarjuna Sagar constituency, the Minister said that Congress candidate K Jana Reddy who was then a Minister remained silent when his Congress government provided water to Krishna Delta by drawing water from Nagarjuna sagar Project at the cost of agricultural fields in Telangana region in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. The tail-end areas of left canal of Nagarjuna Sagar Project were also denied irrigation facility during the Congress regime in erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh, he said. “Jana Reddy did not speak a single word on these issues with a fear that he may lost his Cabinet post. The posts were important to Jana Reddy, but not the interests of people of the Nagarjuna Sagar constituency,” he said.
The Minister said Jana Reddy never worked for the welfare of the people of Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly Constituency and hence, he has no moral right to seek the votes from them. Further, he added that Jana Reddy was a leader in the past as the Congress lost its existence in the Assembly constituency.
Strongly reacting on the release of chargesheet by the BJP on TRS, Jagadish Reddy said the people would open a chargesheet and punish the BJP, which was looting the country, by presenting a bitter defeat to its candidate in the by-elections. He predicted that the BJP candidate would lose deposit in the by-elections.
He said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has made Telangana as hunger free State in the country. “No family in the State is going to the sleep with an empty stomach due to the welfare schemes taken up by the State government,” he said. Stating that TRS candidate Nomula Bhagath was a young and educated leader, he exuded confidence that Bhagath would win the elections with 50,000 votes majority.
Terming the Chief Minister as a great humanitarian, the Minister reminded that the Chief Minister has taken a decision to extend Rs 2,000 financial help and 25 kg of rice to each private school teacher, who were facing hardship due to closure of educational institutions after COVID-19 pandemic.
Rythu Bandhu Samithi president and MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy said that the state government would purchase the paddy from the farmers for Yasangi crop season through paddy procurement centres. Stating that political awareness had increased in the people, he said that the people of Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly Constituency stand with the party which was giving equal importance to development and welfare. The end has come for the intimidating politics and conspiracies of Jana Reddy, he added.
Rajya sabha member Badugula Lingaiah Yadav and Nomula Bhagath were also present.
Minorities urged to vote for TRS
Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali on Friday urged the minorities to vote for TRS candidate Nomula Bhagath in the by-elections to Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly Constituency to support the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who was committed to their welfare.
Speaking at a meeting of minorities held at Peddavoora in Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly constituency, Mahmood Ali said that the state government has taken up several schemes for the welfare of the minorities. The Chief Minister has accorded second language status to Urdu in the state, he pointed out.
“In addition to officially conducting Ramzan festival, the state government is extending honorariums to Imams and Mouzans. The government is also extending financial assistance for marriages of Muslim women under Shaadi Mubarak,” he added.
He stated that the state government was also extending financial assistance to the minority students to pursue higher education courses in foreign under overseas education scheme. Thousands of minority students were getting educational facilities through minorities residential schools, which were set up by the TRS government, he said. Minorities should support the TRS keeping in mind its commitment towards their welfare, he urged.
Mahmood Ali assured that he would extend help for the development of a majid and Kabaristhan in Peddavoora mandal. Chennur MLA Balka Suman and others have also attended the meeting.
