Sangareddy chemical blast death toll rises to 45; rescue ops continue

The death toll from the Sigachi Chloro Chemical explosion in Sangareddy rose to 45, with 35 others injured. Rescue operations are ongoing, as many remain trapped under debris. The incident is likely the worst industrial mishap in Telangana’s history.

Sangareddy: The death toll due to the explosion in Sigachi Chloro Chemical Private Limited increased to 45 overnight as the NDRF, HYDRAA and Telangana Fire Disaster Response teams continued the rescue operations throughout the night.

As many as 35 people were undergoing treatment in different hospitals. The condition of 10 of them is said to be critical.

Probably, it is the biggest ever industrial mishap in Telangana. The teams have continued the rescue operations as the employees feared that there were many people trapped under the debris of the company building which collapsed after they gathered at the industry to find out their family members.

The bodies have been shifted to the government hospital in Patancheru for postmortem from where the government arranged ambulances to shift the bodies to their native places.
