Hyderabad: BRS MLC K Kavitha visited the injured victims of the Sigachi industry blast who are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Patancheru on Tuesday. Criticising the State government for its negligence, she called out the laxity in conducting frequent inspections and ensuring safety measures in hazardous industries.

Terming the industrial accident as unfortunate, Kavitha held the government responsible for failing to enforce safety norms. She demanded an ex gratia of Rs 1 crore for families of the deceased and also urged the government to immediately release funds through the green channel for the treatment of the injured.

The BRS MLC also questioned the lack of transparency, stating that the government had yet to clarify how many workers were present at the time of the explosion and how many of them were still missing. She demanded an urgent safety audit of all industrial units, stating that some minor workers were suspected of having been employed at the industry.
