Karimnagar: Singareni (SCCL) has refuted allegations of coal disappearance and asserted that coal production and distribution are transparent.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, RG-3 GM Madhusudan and AP AGM Bandi Satyanarayana said every stage of coal production and delivery to consumers was monitored. GPS, RFID, CCTV, geofencing and digital weighbridges have been put in place for coal transportation.
About 85 per cent of the coal produced by Singareni is supplied to consumers through railways, while the remaining 15 per cent is transported by road. The allotment of coal is done through the SAP-based system in Hyderabad, and the quantity of coal to be received by any consumer is digitally recorded in advance.
They said every vehicle transporting coal by road is weighed on an electronic weighbridge at the mine or Coal Handling Plant (CHP), and the vehicles are released only after a computer-generated waybill is issued.
The movement of vehicles is also continuously monitored with the help of GPS and geofencing technologies. Similarly, all weighbridges are connected to the Coal Net digital system, and the weight recorded at the time of loading is checked against the weight recorded at the destination. If any discrepancy is noticed, an inquiry is conducted immediately, they said.
CCTV cameras and RFID-based boom barriers have been installed at mines, weighbridges, CHPs, stockyards, entry and exit gates, and railway sidings. The entire process of coal transportation through these systems is monitored continuously, they said.
