Peddapalli: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has set new daily targets of producing 1.8 lakh tonnes of coal, dispatching 2.10 lakh tonnes, and removing 12.5 lakh cubic metres of overburden to cover the production loss caused by heavy rains this year.
Chairman and Managing Director N Balram issued directions to officials while reviewing coal production and the progress of new projects with all area General Managers from Singareni Bhavan, Hyderabad, on Tuesday. He stressed that rains had disrupted production and called for urgent measures to make up the shortfall.
Since open-cast mining was the most affected, he instructed officials to boost underground mine production and ensure optimal use of machinery. He also underlined that every employee’s full eight-hour shift should contribute to productivity.
Balram warned that negligence in meeting the targets would not be tolerated and directed officials to work in complete coordination. He urged employees to take responsibility for improving coal quality, reducing production costs, and curbing avoidable expenditure.
Area management was told to enforce strict cost-cutting measures. With regard to assets, the CMD directed the Estates Department to adopt advanced technology for their protection and ensure records were digitised and maintained online.
On project expansion, he instructed officials to secure clearances without delay for new projects planned this year, including the VK coal mine at Kothagudem and the JK open-cast mine at Illandu.
He said three new mines set to begin operations this year would boost production capacity by 10 million tonnes, while projects planned for next year would add another 10 million tonnes. Balram directed that the progress of clearances be reviewed daily.
