SCCL to reinstate 43 terminated JMETs as fresh appointees
The Singareni Collieries Company Limited has agreed to reinstate 43 Junior Mining Engineer Trainees, previously terminated over documentation and absenteeism issues, following a tripartite agreement with the trade union and the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner.
Peddapalli: The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has, in principle, agreed to reinstate 43 Junior Mining Engineer Trainees (JMETs) who were earlier terminated for reasons such as unauthorised absence and failure to furnish required certificates.
The decision was arrived at following a tripartite agreement between the SCCL management, the recognised Singareni Collieries Workers Union, and the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) during a meeting held at the latter’s office in Vidyanagar, Hyderabad on Thursday.
The issue had been persistently raised by the recognised trade union on humanitarian grounds in several constructive meetings, first at the Director (Personnel, Administration and Welfare) level in November 2024, and again at the Chairman-level meeting in March this year. A breakthrough was achieved during the 51st constructive meeting held on June 27.
As per the agreement, the 43 terminated JMETs will now be treated as fresh recruits. They must appear before a High-Power Committee constituted by SCCL to submit all necessary service-related documents, including the Overman Certificate, Gas Testing, and First Aid Certificates.
Subject to the committee’s recommendations, they will be sent for medical fitness evaluations, following which provisional appointment orders will be issued.
On rejoining, each appointee must compulsorily complete at least 190 muster days during their first year of service.
