Peddapalli: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of various trade unions at Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) have decided to go ahead with the 72-hour strike from Thursday as the talks with management at Regional Labour Commissioner, Hyderabad on Wednesday failed. Though both SCCL and JAC leaders decided to sit once again to discuss demands at 3 pm on Thursday, the trade unions decided to go ahead with their strike.
It may be recalled that the recognised trade union, Telangana Boggu Gani Karmika Sangham, on November 25 issued a strike notice demanding that the Centre withdraw its decision to auction four coal blocks at Kothapalli, Koyyagudem, Sravanapalli and RK-6, besides some other demands. National trade unions AITUC, INTUC, BMS, CITU and HMS have also extended their support to TBGKS. All the trade unions formed the JAC to make the strike a success.
On Monday, the management organised talks with JAC leaders at Regional Labour Commissioner, Hyderabad, but they failed to come to an understanding. The management again held talks with trade union leaders on Wednesday. TBGKS president Venkat Rao and general secretary Miryala Reddy, AITUC leader Raj Kumar, INTUC secretary-general B Janak Prasad, BMS leaders Madhav Naik and Puli Raji Reddy and SCCL Director (PA) Balram Naik participated in talks held on Wednesday.
