Secunderabad Cantonment Board gets Rs 8.7 crore service charges from Army
The Secunderabad Cantonment Board has received Rs 8.70 crore as service charges from the Army to address financial constraints and meet salary and pension liabilities. The allocation is part of ₹82.33 crore released to 17 cantonment boards across India.

Hyderabad: The fund-starved Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) received Rs 8.70 crore as service charges from the Army’s budget.
This amount has been allotted after duly taking into account the financial constraints being faced by the Secunderabad Cantonment Board, to meet the committed liabilities, particularly towards payment of salaries, pensions, and remuneration to contractual staff, according to an official communication sent by the Dy Director General, Directorate General Defence Estates, Amit Kumar.
The Army has released a total of Rs 82.33 crore in its budget to 17 Cantonment Boards of Central Command, Northern Command, Southern Command and Western Command, in the country towards services charges. Secunderabad Cantonment Board comes under Southern Command.
The Cantonment Boards shall maintain proper records of expenditure and any deviation or misuse of the funds will be viewed seriously, the Defence official stated in his letter.
Last week, the Defence Ministry had sanctioned Rs 14.54 crore as grant-in-aid to the Secunderabad Cantonment to spend on various sanctioned works.
