Minister Indrakaran Reddy distribute cow-dung idols of Lord Ganesh in Nirmal on Thursday.
Nirmal: Forest Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy said that everyone should strive to protect the environment and give top priority for worshipping idols of Lord Ganesh made of cow dung. He distributed the idols to devotees here on Thursday. The eco-friendly idols were moulded by Klimom, a wellness firm and farm aimed at producing quality cow milk by raising Indian native cow breeds.
Speaking on the occasion, Indrakaran advised the devotees to shift to either clay or cow-dung idols instead of idols made of Plaster of Paris (PoP) to prevent pollution of water bodies. He said that the government is determined to reduce idols prepared with hazardous chemicals and to encourage eco-friendly ones.
The minister stated that Telangana State Pollution Control Board would distribute eco-friendly idols this year too. He said that idols made by PoP would cause pollution and adversely affect the environment. He congratulated and appreciated Allola Divya Reddy of Klimom for conceptualizing the innovative way of worshipping cow-dung idols.
Klimom Wellness to distribute 100 idols in Nirmal
Divya Reddy said that 100 eco-friendly idols of Lord Ganesh would be distributed to devotees in the district for free. Established in 2015, Klimom donates around 200 idols to the devotees in the district every year. Divya won an award from the Union government for passionately propagating cows and for raising the population of the livestock. Around 200 cows are being reared by a farm situated around 40 kilometers away from Hyderabad.
Later, the minister gave away cheques to beneficiaries of Kalyana Laxmi at another programme held in the town.
