Hyderabad: Courtesy costs nothing but buys everything is being brought to life at a restaurant in the city.

Dakshin-5, a newly opened restaurant in city’s IT corridor at Khajaguda, has a courtesy discount on offer.

The discounts at the 56-seater restaurant are easy and interesting which the patrons can avail by saying ‘please’, ‘thank you’, ‘have a nice day’. In fact, more the courtesies, more the discounts!

So, if one says ‘a thali please’ while ordering a vegeterian thali then one might get it for Rs 150 plus taxes from the original cost of Rs 165 plus taxes i.e., a discount of Rs 15. Similarly, if you greet the staff with ‘good afternoon’ and follow that with ‘a thali please’, the price gets further discounted and you have to pay Rs 135, a neat discount of Rs 30.

A board announcing this initiative has been put up prominently. A K Solanky and Sanjeev Kumar Blake, Managing Partners of Hotel Dakshin-5, say this will not only encourage customers to be polite, but it is putting a smile on their faces too.

“The common courtesy has become very uncommon, and we are trying to bring back that culture,” said Solanky.

“Though we serve, we are not servants, and we need to be treated well. Many times restaurant staff is badly treated for no fault of theirs,” says Sanjeev Kumar.

The restaurant hit upon yet another unique idea “Elder The Better” and as part of the special offer, for next one month diners accompanied by an elderly person will get a flat discount on the total bill, equivalent to the age of the most elderly person of the group.
