Shreyan Thipparthi and Sharika Tunki win top titles at Brilliant Trophy chess tournament

Shreyan Thipparthi and Sharika Tunki from St. Francis Girls High School claimed victory in the Open and Junior categories, respectively, at the 234th Brilliant Trophy chess tournament held at Brilliant Grammar School, Dilsukhnagar, on Sunday

Hyderabad: Shreyan Thipparthi and Sharika Tunki of St Francis Girls High School (Secunderabad) emerged champions in the Open and Junior categories, respectively, at the 234th Brilliant Trophy chess tournament held at Brilliant Grammar School (Dilsukhnagar) here on Sunday.

In the Open category, Shreyan won the title with 5.5 points from six rounds, while D. Anish and Rishi Pallagani, with five points each, finished second and third, respectively.

Sharika won the Junior title despite tying with Sri Samanvith on 5.5 points each for the top spot, by virtue of the tie-break rule. Advik Sahasya finished in third place.
