Hyderabad: Sigachi Industries Limited on Wednesday announced an ex gratia of Rs 1 crore to the families of those who died in the accident at its Pashamylaram facility.

In a statement, the company said the accident had resulted in the loss of 40 employees and left 33 others injured. The management stated that it was actively coordinating the emergency response, offering support to families, and cooperating with the ongoing investigation and regulatory compliance processes.

It assured that the families of the deceased would receive Rs 1 crore as ex-gratia compensation, while those injured would be provided full medical care and rehabilitation support.

The company also issued a clarification regarding the cause of the explosion. “As we await the results of the investigation, we would like to clarify that the accident was not caused by a reactor explosion at the plant, as mentioned in sections of the media,” it said.

The firm added that operations at the Pashamylaram plant would remain suspended for approximately 90 days.
