Singareni rescue team to represent India at international mine rescue competition in Zambia
Singareni Collieries’ rescue team will represent India at the International Mine Rescue Competition in Zambia. Trained intensively, the team has a strong track record nationally. The company’s women’s team also recently earned accolades at a national-level competition.

Peddapalli: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) rescue team is going to participate in international competitions.
One of the famous and talented rescue teams in the country, Singareni team will take part in the 14th International Mine Rescue Competitions to be held in Zambia from April 28 to May 1.
Rescue teams from different countries are going to take part in a four-day IMRC competition, which will be held for every two years. The Singareni team, which got a double hat- trick in the national level rescue competitions, has been participating in IMRC during the last two decades.
In order to display excellent performance in the international event, six brigadiers of SCCL team were given special training for 45 days in the main rescue station in Ramagundam-II area.
They were given training in different categories such as rescue recovery, firefighting, rope rescue, first aid and rescue skills.
While Pramood Kumar acts as captain of the team, Nitin Kumar as breathing officer. Sai Krishna and Rajender Reddy will act as technician and technical translator respectively. Shyam Kumar, Srikanth, Bhanuprasad and Rajesh are members.
One of the most talented and well-equipped teams in India, the Singareni rescue team participated in major rescue operations in the country including SLBC tunnel collapse operation.
For the first time in its 136-year history, Singareni has also constituted a women rescue team along with 13 of its officers. They were given 14 days of specialized training in rescue operations in July last year.
In its very first appearance, the women’s rescue team created a record by winning the prize in the 54th All India Mines Rescue Competitions held at Nagpur, Maharashtra in December, 2025.
While the men’s team won the first prize and championship, women got the second prize.
Besides securing the second prize, the women’s team also won the first prize in first aid and secured several other awards in different categories.
