Hyderabad: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana has taken over social media, with vloggers, influencers, and student organisations using their respective social media platforms not just to spread awareness on the participation but also to explain the process of filling out the enumeration form.
Ever since the enumeration process began on June 25, platforms such as X, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube have been flooded with Telugu, Hindi, Urdu and English videos, reels and shorts, detailing the SIR process.
Many content creators have simplified the exercise, explaining the step-by-step process for filling Parts I, II, and III of the enumeration form and mistakes that should be avoided while filling out the forms.
Several short videos have also been circulated on social media and messaging platforms explaining how electors can search the SIR 2002 electoral rolls online using theirs, parents or grandparents’ credentials. The videos also guide on what documents need to be submitted if a person’s name is not found in the list. Many of these videos have attracted thousands of views, generating money for the creators.
The Telangana Chief Electoral Office has also been uploading videos and photo posters on a daily basis across its official social media platforms, explaining the SIR process, providing a step-by-step guide for filling the form, and addressing doubts. Television news channels have joined the campaign, producing short videos on the SIR.
In addition, the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) who are unable to attend to issues of every elector have also been sharing short AI-generated videos on how to fill out the forms offline and how to search and verify the SIR 2002 details online.
“Initially, I was confused as social media platforms had different videos explaining the SIR process. Later, my BLO shared short videos on how to fill out the form and search the SIR 2002 list online. This made the process much earlier,” said Nagaraj, a voter in Balapur.
Some student organisations like the SIO Telangana have been using social media, calling for volunteers to join the SIR drive and fill up the enumeration forms in the State.
