Six held in Mancherial for trying to sell leopard skin

Mancherial: In a joint operation, sleuths of Task Force, Special Branch and Devapur police arrested six persons for allegedly trying to sell leopard skin at Gunduguda village in Kasipet mandal on Thursday. The skin, a motorbike and an autorickshaw were recovered from the poachers. Three others involved in the poaching are absconding.
In a press statement, Ramagundam Commissioner V Satyanarayana said the accused poachers were Gopathi Vamshi alias Raju, a resident of Thangallapalli, and Sikram Gangu, a native of Pallamguda in Kasipet mandal, Jupaka Durga Prasad, Shaik Jameel, Mohammad Wajid Khan and Avula Sai Krishna belonging to different parts of Mandamarri mandal.
The prime accused Pendram Shankar, a resident of Sungapur in Tiryani mandal of Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Gade Raju from Hyderabad and Gopathi Murali belonging to Mandamarri town, were still at large.
Gangu admitted that he contacted his friends Gopati Vamashi who in turn approached his cousin Murali of Hyderabad for disposing the skin of the carnivore which was reportedly poached by Shankar in the forests of Mangi in Tiryani of Kumram Bheem Asifabad mandal, a fortnight back. He confessed that Shankar then handed over it to him and Gangu.
The six revealed that Murali deployed his friends Prasad, Raju, Wajid, Jameel and Krishna for checking the quality of the skin and whether it was with Gangu. Accordingly, Gangu, Vamshi, Prasad, Wajid, Jamil and Sai Krishna were detained when they were on their way to see the skin hidden in the forests near Gonduguda village, following a tip.
Satyanarayana commended Task Force Inspector T Kiran, SB Inspector G Satheesh and Devapur Sub-Inspector N Devaiah, Task Force Sub-Inspector Lacchanna, constables Sampath Kumar, Rakesh, Bhaskar Goud, Srinivas, Omkar, Venkatesh, Shyam, Sadanandam Goud and Mallanna for apprehending the six. He said that policemen were cracking down on poaching of the wild animals in Mancherial district.
