Hyderabad: State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) in its meeting held today decided on the revised banking timings and other operations in view of the lockdown imposed by the Government of Telangana in the light of surging Covid-19 second wave.

The branches will adhere to the timings of four hours i.e., from 8 am to 12 noon for rendering essential services such as cash deposit/withdrawals, remittances, clearing of cheques and government business, as advised by the IBA. These arrangements would be implemented from May 13 to May 20 and if required the same would be reviewed for further extension, the committee observed.

All alternate delivery channels will remain operative. Back office services of the banks such as currency chests, ATM cash loading vendors/back office core banking solution projects, offices in data centre, data recovery centres offices, security operation centres for cyber security, bank treasury, forex back offices & SWIFT centres and other centres as authorised by the head offices of the Bank/ NBFC will remain in operation as per normal routine.

The staff at branches/administrative offices may be allowed to work on rotational basis complying with all Covid-19 guidelines issued by Central & State Governments from time to time. However, Controllers of Banks would take decisions in this regard for effective implementation at the ground level without affecting customer service. Business correspondents and customer service points will work strictly by following Covid-19 guidelines issued from time to time.

It has urged the State government to give priority for vaccinating all staff and their family members and permit travel/transit of bank employees and cash replenishment agencies.
