Hyderabad: Calling the collapse of the SLBC tunnel, built with crores of public money, yet another glaring example of the Congress government’s negligence and misgovernance, BRS leader and former Minister T Harish Rao said that just days after the retaining wall collapsed in Sunkishala, the SLBC tunnel has now caved in. This pattern of failures exposes the reckless approach of the Congress administration.

The responsibility for this disaster lies entirely with the government. Workers had noticed soil erosion over the past four days, yet no preventive measures were taken.

This shocking negligence has now resulted in a major accident. Every minute of delay in rescue operations would put their lives at greater risk, he said.

“The government must act immediately. The rescue operations should be carried out on a war footing. Dewatering must begin without delay, power supply must be restored, and debris should be cleared urgently to bring the trapped workers to safety”, he demanded.

The injured workers must receive the best medical care, and their families should be provided immediate support.

“We demand that the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) conduct an urgent investigation into this disaster. The Congress government cannot continue putting lives at risk while wasting public money on poorly executed projects. Telangana deserves better,” he said.
