Suryapet: A breach was reported at SRSP Stage-II canal at Dharmapuram village of Penphad mandal in Suryapet district on Sunday.
The canal had faced a similar breach in the same place a few months back. Villagers alleged that the canal breached again due to poor quality of repair works undertaken to close the earlier breach.
The breach took place at 9 am and the water through the spot flowed into Maddiramakka irrigation tank in the village.
Water supply for irrigation to farmers in Tirumalgiri, Athmakur(S), Nagaram, Jajireddygudem, Maddirala and Chivvemla mandal was not impacted due to the breach located three km before the end point of the canal.
When contacted, SRSP officials said water to the canal would be stopped to take up repair works.
