Actor-director Rishab Shetty distanced himself and the Kantara: Chapter 1 team from a viral fake poster asking audiences to follow lifestyle restrictions before watching the film. The upcoming release, slated for October 2, continues the legacy of the 2022 blockbuster Kantara.

The trailer of Kantara: Chapter 1 teases a gripping prelude with Rishab Shetty and Gulshan Devaiah. Produced by Hombale Films, the film releases October 2 across seven languages, featuring massive war sequences.

Rukmini Vasanth finished dubbing for her role as Kanakavathi in Kantara: Chapter 1. Directed by Rishab Shetty, the prequel releases on October 2, 2025, and also stars Jayaram.

The national award-winning actor posted released the poster of the upcoming film on the occasion of the 395th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji.

According to a statement, the makers are set to introduce a grand war sequence, for which they have hired over 500 skilled fighters. These specialists in action choreography will help craft a war sequence that is unprecedented and visually stunning.

With the posters of the film keeping audiences hooked for its release, the makers are leaving no stone unturned to make it grand.

Rishabh talked about the origins of “Kantara”, revealing how the film is intertwined with his home and community.

Several aspirants who appeared for the Group - II services examination were taken by surprise seeing names of Cillian Murphy, Emma Stone, and Christopher Nolan in the question paper.

The film’s makers announced its release on social media Sunday, sharing the caption, “The moment has arrived. The divine forest whispers. #KantaraChapter1 Worldwide Grand Release on October 2, 2025.” The team has gone all out to create a visual masterpiece, reconstructing the historic Kadamba Empire at Kundapur to immerse viewers in an era of valor, culture, and mystique. With its detailed architecture and lifelike surroundings, the intricate set promises to transport audiences to a bygone time.

Rishab Shetty said that the National Award win will inspire others from Kannada film industry and other film industries of India to come up with compelling stories and fresh ideas in pursuit of artistic excellence.

Nithya Menen and Mansi Parekh shared the Best Actress award for their roles in “Thiruchitrambalam” and “Kutch Express,” respectively. Acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee received a Special Mention for his performance in “Gulmohar,” which was also named the Best Hindi Film.

The company reported promising financial results, cheering investors with a PBT of 26.83 lacs for Quarter 4 alone (FY 2024 PBT Rs 9.46 lacs) compared to a full-year loss of Rs 552.15 lacs in FY 2022-23.

Hombale Films will produce the film, similar to their previous venture. Both the director and the production house announced the film's official launch by revealing a poster on social media.

It is a special day in the journey of  'Kantara' as Rishab Shetty-starrer film has completed one year since its release.

The award shows ran from September 15-16 in Dubai, with the first night announcing winners in the Telugu and Kannada categories and the second for Tamil and Malayalam

The star enjoys a huge fanbase across the world, especially after the phenomenal success of 'Kantara' which stood as a real testament to his unique storytelling
